1 Logs from planted forests are cut into little logs, that go to the debarker, are chipped and transformed into wood chips*, which are subsequently sent to the pulp production process.
2 The wood chips are taken to the digester where the lignin is separated from the pulp.
3 The pulp is cooked and and goes through the depuration process, where the contaminants and the uncooked parts are removed.
4 Thereafter, washing begins, separating the pulp from the chemicals**, pulp is stockpiled.
Pulp is refined, the pulp fiber is physically treated.
5 After physical treatment, the mass is prepared by adding chemical products to the refined fiber. Strong jets of water push the mass to the flat table, where sheet formation begins.
6 This sheet goes through the press, which assists in the removal of about 40% of the humidity present in the paper. Drying rolls remove the remaining humidity, allowing the sufficient rate to guarantee its mechanical strength.
7 A scanner analyzes the quality of the paper, which goes to the rewinder and forming what we call a jumbo roll.
8 Upon reaching the rewinder, paper is cut according to customer specifications.
9 Paper rolls are shipped accordingly to clients, while non-conforming (scrap) products are sent for internal recycling and reprocessing.
How our papers are produced
* the tailings of these stages are used as biomass to feed the cogeneration boiler.
** the chemicals are recovered: the white liquor is used for soil correction and the black liquor is treated and chemically processed.
